Only by reference to details can one distinguish the marking mechanism of this unit from that in the American Watchman's Time Detector  (I.D. 301) and the Cleveland Magneto (I.D. 518).  It is almost certain that American supplied the mechanism to Mr. Romaine.

These photos show the rack of solenoids; the frame and front plate; the narrow strike bar. A solenoid drives its pin from behind the front plate to puncture the paper dial against the underside of the strike bar.
