The Eco Magneto Clock Company introduced its first portable watchclock after almost twenty years of success with its Eco Magneto Recorder (I.D. 501). Its decision to enter the portable clock field was undoubtedly
influenced by the considerable new competition occasioned by expiration of its magneto patents in 1904. Another factor would have been the success enjoyed by portable watchclocks following Underwriter's Laboratories, Inc's
approving portables in which the security against false registrations matched, or arguably matched, the level of security that Mr. Newman introduced in 1902. |
